Lawrence Andelsman, Esq, founded Andelsman Law in 1994, a boutique real estate law firm with a simple mission: to provide unparalleled customer service and a comprehensive range of legal representation to assist lenders, developers and investors efficiently navigate a broad range of transactions. A 1994 graduate of Hofstra University Law School and an active member of the New York State and New Jersey State Bar Associations, Mr. Andelsman is highly adept in all aspects of the real estate industry including acquisition, financing, construction, and sales. Having served for years as outside general counsel and closing attorney for several preeminent NYC real estate investors, Mr. Andelsman garnered a skilled understanding of private/hard money lending and leveraged that knowledge to represent some of the largest private lenders in the New York/New Jersey region. His broad knowledge base quickly established his reputation within the industry as the go-to legal authority within the hard money lending community.

AUDRA HORNIG, Esq, Partner and Senior Counsel

Audra Hornig served as an Senior Associate in the Bronx DA’s office where she prosecuted high level felons for eight years. Subsequently, she served as General and Compliance Counsel for some of New York’s largest Mortgage Lenders. She oversaw all legal matters and was responsible for all areas of compliance, including writing and implementing compliant Dodd Frank policies and procedures. Ms. Hornig was responsible for federal and state banking audits, as well as training and licensing loan originators.

After honing her skills for 16 years working in compliance, Ms. Hornig departed the residential mortgage industry and joined the Law Offices of Lawrence Andelsman, P.C. as a senior associate. Ms. Hornig handles private and commercial lending transactions for the firm. She also provides general counsel to private and non-bank lenders in the areas of compliance, regulation and general corporate matters.

Ms. Hornig graduated from George Washington University in 1990 and Brooklyn Law School in 1993. She is a member of both New York and New Jersey Bar Associations.

Ian Axelrod, Esq, Senior Counsel

Ian is an accomplished attorney with over 10 years’ experience representing private lenders, financial institutions, investors, developers, and domestic and international high net worth individuals and investment groups in all facets of lending, borrowing, acquisitions and other real estate matters.  Ian has represented prominent lenders, developers, property operators, business owners, and investors for both residential and commercial property development projects. Ian provides counsel on the acquisition, renovation, and lease of multi-family, mixed use, condominium and various other real estate projects.  Prior to joining the firm, Ian was the Managing Attorney at The Shiponi Law Firm, P.C. and, Associate at The Law Offices of Frederick J. Giachetti, P.C.

Ian graduated from SUNY at Buffalo in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, Public Law Concentration.  He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2010, and was admitted to the New York Bar Association in 2011.

JACOB GROSSMAN, Esq, Associate

Jacob was named an Associate in April 2024, upon his admission to the New York Bar Association. After graduating law school in May 2023, he had been working as a J.D., pending his admission to the bar. Prior to that, Jacob began as an intern at Andelsman Law in December 2021 and continued to intern with the firm during his second and third years of law school. As a J.D. and intern, Jacob worked closely with our attorneys and legal admin team, working in all areas of the firm, and was especially instrumental in the enhancement of our document production systems, and our law student intern program.

Jacob earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in May 2023. His undergraduate studies were at SUNY Binghamton where he graduated in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics and Law. Jacob was admitted to the New York Bar Association in April 2024.

Vera is a highly talented paralegal with over 35 years of experience handling all aspects of real estate and lending transactions. Vera is well recognized within the private and institutional lending, commercial and residential real estate communities for her expertise with complex title issues, foreclosures and short sales. Vera has attended and closed thousands of residential, commercial and lender transactions, and she has earned a reputation for her attention to detail, efficiency and communication. Her responsive and helpful nature has allowed her to establish and foster relationships with clients and many others throughout the real estate and institutional lending communities. Vera oversees the Andelsman Law, Paralegal and Legal Administration teams. Prior to joining Andelsman Law, Vera was an independent title and bank closer. She studied  education at Queens College, and earned her Associate of Science, Paralegal Studies degree from Nassau Community College. Vera is a NYS Notary Public.

She has been involved in thousands of commercial real estate transactions, and has developed a deep understanding of the intricacies and complexities involved in private lending, along with a comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and industry packages.

With a sharp eye for details, a strong commitment to accuracy, and a proven ability to efficiently manage large volumes of files, Sara has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional results for our clients.

Prior to joining the firm, Sara served as the lead paralegal at The Edge Condominium. Sara earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Nyack College. She is a NYS Notary Public.

Vickram earned his Bachelor of Applied Science, International and Legal Studies degree from St. John’s University, and his Associate of Science, Legal Assistant/Paralegal degree, from Nassau Community College. He is a certified Paralegal through ABA Paralegal and a NYS Notary Public.

Prior to joining Andelsman Law, Nikki was a Real Estate Paralegal at CDP Law Firm and Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson, LLP. Nikki earned her Bachelor of Arts, Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Phoenix, and is currently working on her MBA from the University of Phoenix, as well. In his role as Chief Operating Officer at Andelsman Law, Jay oversees all non-legal, business operations for the firm. Jay brings a broad and diverse background in strategic leadership and execution, and business transformation and process optimization. Most recently, Jay served as a consultant with Andelsman Law Group, as well as, Intrado (an Apollo Global Management Company) in the Cloud Collaboration Group. Prior to Intrado, Jay held a variety of leadership positions during his ten-year tenure at Stericycle Inc., where he last served as VP, Operations Support (Real Estate Management), in the Communications Solutions Group. Previously, he held senior leadership positions at MEDFONE Inc., which was acquired by Stericycle, and Olympus America Inc.. Jay began his career as a Drilling Engineer with StrataBit Corporation. Jay holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, both from Marietta College.

AMY ANDELSMAN Chief Financial Officer

Amy Andelsman began her career at Ernst and Young’s Personal Financial Consulting national office located in New York City. Amy served as a senior financial planning counselor responsible for providing financial and retirement planning education to employees of Ernst and Young’s large national corporate clients. Amy provided on site education utilizing Ernst and Young’s proprietary software through one-on-one counseling and company-wide seminars. After honing her skills in accounting and financial services, Amy served as controller and portfolio manager for Best Homes Direct a real estate investment and development company in New York City. Amy oversaw all aspects of development and operations including accounting, finance, construction, asset management, risk analysis and property management.

Amy’s management of financial operations includes firmwide accounting operations, financial planning, and financial reporting and analysis. As a member of the firm’s senior leadership team, her primary objective is to support the achievement of the firm’s strategic plans, profitable growth, and operations. Amy has over 15 years of law firm management experience.

Amy graduated from George Washington University with a BBA in International Finance in 1990 and earned her MBA in Accounting at Fordham University in 1997.

Jessica is a highly skilled and dedicated Executive Assistant to the CEO & Managing Partner, Larry Andelsman, Esq. She plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of the firm and in managing the day-to-day affairs of non-legal matters. Throughout Jessica’s career, she has developed a broad range of skills from working in a variety of industries, including finance, healthcare, and construction/home improvements, which provides her with a deep understanding of the business landscape.

In addition to providing executive support, Jessica takes an active role in managing the CEO’s additional business ventures, coordinating events, and assisting with the firm’s marketing.

Jessica graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
