For over 25 years, Lawrence Andelsman has represented a prominent group of real estate owners, developers, commercial and private lenders as well as small to mid-size growing businesses. He guides them in all aspects of real estate transactions and related corporate matters.
During this time Mr. Andelsman has provided comprehensive legal and business advice to some of the largest private lenders and developers focused in the NYC market, including all five boroughs and Long Island. He is a strong negotiator who identifies and implements the most efficient and cost-effective approach to successfully meet his clients’ objectives.
Mr. Andelsman’s practice is devoted exclusively to transactional real estate, with a focus on developer, investor and lender representation. He has handled thousands of transactions, successfully guiding his clients through every aspect of such transactions. He understands the forces at work in all phases of the real estate cycle, including both the up-cycles and the downturns, and counsels his clients accordingly on how to successfully manage them.
Mr. Andelsman has owned and operated a real estate investment and development company for 20 years and has overseen and directed acquisition, financing, construction, management, rentals and sales. This extensive experience has provided a unique understanding of the needs and expectations of clients involved in real estate development, investment and lending.
Mr. Andelsman graduated from the State University of New York at Albany, School of Business, Cum Laude, receiving a B.S. in finance in 1990. He graduated from Hofstra University Law School in 1993 and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1994. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and American Bar Association.
Audra Hornig served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx DA’s office where she prosecuted high level felons for eight years. Subsequently, she served as General and Compliance Counsel for some of New York’s largest Mortgage Lenders. She oversaw all legal matters and was responsible for all areas of compliance, including writing and implementing compliant Dodd Frank policies and procedures. Ms. Hornig was responsible for federal and state banking audits, as well as training and licensing loan originators.
After honing her skills for 16 years working in compliance, Ms. Hornig departed the residential mortgage industry and joined the Law Offices of Lawrence Andelsman, P.C. as a senior associate. Ms. Hornig handles private and commercial lending transactions for the firm. She also provides general counsel to private and non-bank lenders in the areas of compliance, regulation and general corporate matters.
Ms. Hornig graduated from George Washington University in 1990 and Brooklyn Law School in 1993.
Aisha Johnson is a senior associate with the Law Office of Lawrence Andelsman PC. She has over 15 years of experience practicing as a real estate attorney with an emphasis on representing lenders, purchasers, sellers, and investors in both residential and commercial transactions and has closed thousands of deals.
But it is her broad range of experience in the real estate industry that gives Aisha an edge in the field. Prior to joining the firm, Aisha served as in-house counsel at a title insurance agency, then went on to work for a nonprofit housing developer before establishing her own transactional real estate law practice in 2005. This comprehensive background in real estate gives Aisha a unique perspective and insight into all sides of a transaction, and enables her to anticipate issues and proactively problem solve. Clients and colleagues alike note that she is pragmatic, detail-oriented and highly effective, even when faced with complicated and time-sensitive matters.
Aisha earned her J.D. in 2001 from Howard University School of Law, and a B.A. in political science from Hampton University in 1998. She is admitted to the New York State bar.
Vera is the office manager and a seasoned paralegal with more than 30 years experience handling all aspects of real estate and lending transactions. Vera is well recognized for her expertise with complex title issues, foreclosures and short sales. She has attended and closed thousands of residential, commercial and lender transactions. Her attention to detail and responsive and helpful nature has allowed her to establish and foster relationships with clients as well as within the real estate and institutional lending communities.
